It was the first event of this magnitude that i have attended during my 35 years in martial arts. As a former juvenile detective, i know the challenges you face in reaching out to youth today. Comments :  Hello Sifu Mack, I am another one of your Wichita, KS students. You may remember me, my husband, 4 year old son and I were all in your class. I am the 110 lb girl that missed a knee to the groin and went with a kidney punch instead.Opps!! You laid flat on the floor for a few seconds, excused yourself for a minute or two returned to the class and boy, was I scared!! I just knew I was in serious trouble. You called my husband out and ask him, "Why are you in my class? Just take her with you wherever you go. You will be protected!!" I am happy to say almost 30 years later, he is still taking me along where ever he goes! "Wow, Sifu, you have done good!!" I am proud to call you, my Teacher, YOU touched our lives more than you can imagine. Comments :  What studying Kenpo Karate under Sifu Mack does for me: 1) Emphasizing self-defense, not aggression, it gives me the techniques for defending myself if I find myself in a confrontation. 2) We are taught how to respond to an attack in such a way that witnesses will testify we were not the aggressor. 3) As Chuck Norris has pointed out, the self-confidence that comes from knowing a Martial Art makes it less likely one would ever be attacked. I believe that will be true for me through the study of Kenpo Karate. 4) Sifu Mack's classes range beyond specific Kenpo techniques to make us more aware of the various dangers in the world around us and how to protect ourselves from them (parking lot attacks, intruders in our homes, etc.). 5) The classes give me an opportunity to practice focusing wholly on the present moment. 6) As someone whose work keeps him entirely in his head all the time, the classes give me a chance to be more aware of my body. Learning the Kenpo techniques requires getting out of my head in some interesting and challenging ways. 7) Because my wife and children are also students of Sifu Mack, I am less worried that something bad will ever happen to them. My wife, daughter, and son have already experienced the benefits of studying under Sifu Mack. About Sifu Mack: He really knows his stuff and he is passionate about sharing his expertise in appropriate doses. He emphasizes acquiring a solid and correct foundation through mastering the basics before moving on to advanced techniques. For someone with extensive credentials (5th degree Black Belt in Kenpo Karate, induction into numerous Martial Arts Halls of Fame, doctorate awarded by University of Asian Martial Arts Studies, etc.), he is remarkably patient with beginners. He is thoroughly committed to helping other human beings; his chosen method is through Kenpo Karate. Making money off his students is not his primary concern, as is demonstrated by his low monthly fees, by not charging for belt tests, and so on. Anyone who is looking for a self-defense class or a Kenpo instructor in particular should check out Sifu Mack!

Comments :  Nice site. I trained at Gilbert Velez's school in Tucson AZ in the early 1980s and met Ed Parker there (I have some great photos) when he came for a tournament. Brings back great memories.
